coachjavyperez Yes it is definitely possible to gain mass using X/X2/One on Ones. But first lets address the functionality of Body Beast. Though Body Beast doesn't include the same functional movements as P90X does, I don't believe that it is completely lost with that program. The easiest way to add retain it is to just add 1 day per week of some of those functional moves that you love. I am assuming you mean pushups and pull ups? I do like the fact that Body Beast does have compound movements like Deadlifts and squats.
So basically I would add a day of conditioning/functional based workout. That can be anything from HIIT training to P90X stuff to Asylum. Let me know your thoughts!

Hey Sean, I know you probably got this question before. You see I'm trying to gain muscle mass and even though Body Beast is geared specifically for that purpose I don't like the fact that Functionality is lost. I like being able to move around and be functional overall. Now I've seen you transformation so my question is, is it possible to gain muscle mass with the an X + X2 + One On One Hybrid. I have Body Beast but in all honesty I'm not ready to give away my functionality plus I'm looking to be a Personal Trainer but as a goal I'd like to turn my clients into athletes and not just all muscle that cannot jump or run lol, Any advice my friend?

@Coach Sean Thanks, maybe I should look at doing a round of BB when I finish X/X2 hybrid, bulk up some and then go back to X/X2 to shred down again. What do you think? Maybe just make sure to do yoga once a week while doing BB?

@cdavison23 No I am not going to make a body beast hybrid because I really believe that body beast is best for bulking and doesn't really fit into the mentality of what P90X is trying to accomplish. That being said. I will think about it and see if there is one that makes sense.

Sean, I've been doing your P90x/x2 hybrid and have really been enjoying it and have about 5 weeks left. I was just given Body Beast as a gift, but am a little bit skeptical about doing completely because there's no yoga, real cardio etc. Are you planning on putting together a hybrid of with Body Beast/p90x and x2? Just curious since i would really like to have a plan to follow. Thanks again for your hard work with the X/X2 hybrid! it's awesome!

@Ollie: I wouldn't recommend doing the same muscle groups back to back in the same week. Have yous seen my P90X/P90X2 Hybrid schedule yet? I put a ton of thought into it, I would do mine. You can add in some Insanity during any of the cardio / plyo days.

I kinda made a hybrid up, but I don't think I put enough time into it... because I've noticed as I've gone along that I scheduled Chest Shoulders Tris X1, YogaX2, then Chest Shoulders Tris X2 on 3 back-to-back-to-back days on some occasions, which I think is a bit overkill and unbalanced. I'll look for the link to your hybrid and check it out... thanks Sean!!

@Ollie: NP man! I think you will be fine with that mix. Are you using my P90X/P90X2 Hybrid schedule? I have been getting great feedback from it. I think doing Beast after that would be a great idea.
