Hey, I just messaged you, but just in case this works better, I’m looking to bulk up. Just ordered P90X, resistance bands and dumbbells, but am not sure if I should alter the program as it seems to be aimed at fitness or weightloss more so than adding mass. What would you recommend? If I just want to gain muscle mass, should I skip cardio and double reps, how did you do it? Thanks and great job!

@David: Congrats on becoming a P90X grad! I am now on my 8th round of P90X/Hybrid routine. It sounds like your main questions is whether your not you can start right in to doubles instead of waiting to phase 2? The answer is Yes you can. But I wouldn't start at phase 2, I would still do the phase 1 workouts but add in the doubles to it from there. There is no reason to wait until day 60 of your 2nd round in order to start doing doubles, since you have already done 1 full round. Besides that, how were you looking to format it differently?

Hey Sean,

I'm about to start my second round of P90X, and I was curious, as someone who is apparently doing it for the seventh time, do you alter the first month (phase/30 days) of workouts at all?
From what I've read the first month is to really get the body aware of what you're putting it though. This seems especially apparent with the doubles routine (which is what I plan to do this round), since you don't start doing doubles until phase two.
Since I have already been putting my body through this kind of training, and only took a two week break after completing my first round, is the first round really necessary? Can I format it differently to increase my results?

Thanks for any advice,
David

@shawn 76: I would drink your recovery drink after your resistance workout on your doubles days. That is when you work your muscles the hardest and when they need the extra carbs and protein. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
