Jack3d Pre-Workout Review

Jack3d has to be the most hyped supplement on the market right now, but does it live up to the hype? I decided to find out. I purchased a tub and put it to the test during my P90X workouts. I have heard nothing but good things about Jack3d so when I finally decided to try it I had high expectations.

Supplement Review:

Since I am doing P90X I decided to test it out on Chest/Back. One of the most brutal, Chest/Back is my favorite P90X workout.  I use it to test pre workout supplements that I try for the first time. At 5:30 pm, after taking 1 1/2 scoops of Jack3d and waiting 30 mins for it to kick in, I begun my workout. Energy came immediately. I didn’t get the “tingly” feeling from the Beta Alanine that everyone speaks about, probably because my body is more tolerant, but my energy was definitely high.

I killed my workout. I didn’t feel like I was too hyped up or jittery. My energy and focus felt clean and controlled. I was able to break some PRs (personal records) on the chest moves…increase my reps by quite a bit. I don’t know if I can give all the credit to Jack3d however. The pump was fair at best. I didn’t feel like I got the same pump from Jack3d as say, Xpand Xtreme Pump or 1.M.R. It must be due to a smaller amount of arganine and/or lack of amino acids in Jack3d.  Over the course of a 1 hour and 15 min workout, I felt energized and driven to the end.

That night I had trouble sleeping. I felt like my body was a little bit warm. Looking at the product further, I think it was due to the 1, 3 dimethylamylamine. This seems to be what makes Jack3d different than other pre-workout supplements on the market. I awoke several times during the night. Feeling hot and energetic, my overall night sleep was not very good. I am a little wary of the 1, 3 dimethylamylamine due to the fact that there isn’t any studies to back up its safety as a workout supplement. USPlabs, the manufacturer of Jack3d, states that this ingredient is safe for consumption but my verdict is still out. I have never had trouble sleeping after taking a pre-workout supplement so it is obvious that it is this ingredient is lasting much longer in the body than the effects of caffeine.

Taste: 8/10

If there was one thing that I hear people complain about with Jack3d is that it doesn’t taste good. I can’t complain myself. I liked the taste. It is a mild, lemonade type flavor that I found kinda refreshing. You don’t need a ton of water to down it and it didn’t taste too artificial.  It mixed very easily.

Energy and Focus: 10/10

To me, this is what makes Jack3d different. The energy and focus are crazy.  Initially you might not feel it but as your workout progresses so does the energy.  I suggest you start with one scoop to assess your tolerance. If you are an early evening exerciser than you might want to try it earlier in the day. The energy lasts much longer than any other pre-workout supplement I have tried.

Pump:  5/10

This was disappointment for me. If you are the type of person looking for the pump while working out then you might have to look elsewhere. Jack3d just didn’t deliver the pumps I wanted nor used to.  Many people take pre-workout supplements for the pump and you might be disappointed here.  Some take 2-3 scoops and claim that it is better but I can’t tolerate more than 2 scoops of Jack3d.  I believe this is the reason they developed their product called “Yok3d”, which I hear is a great product for pumps.

Strength8/10

I was surprised by the fact I broke some PRs during my exercise.  Jack3d is such a small serving size that I didn’t think that the creatine monohydrate in it would be enough to help my strength.  Overall I thought the strength gains were more from the energy side then from the creatine.  If I were to take Jack3d I might need to supplement more creatine or take more than 1 scoop to ensure that I am getting enough.

Conclusion:

Jack3d is effective. There is no doubt why it got it’s reputation. For me it didn’t deliver the energy effects without the side effects of lack of sleep and body temperature rise. I like Jack3d energy but didn’t feel like it was the all around pre-workout supplement that say Xpand Xtreme Pump was.  I don’t feel like it delivers the creatine, arginine and BCAAs that other pre-workout supplements have.  I appreciate the fact that Jack3d is filler free but didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t find any research on it’s main ingredient. If you are looking for an energy focused pre-workout supplement then Jack3d might be for you. Just make sure you start with one scoop first.  I am going to stick with Jack3d for the rest of the tub but will probably look elsewhere.

Overall: 8.5/10
