I have been doing P90X and other Beachbody programs since January of 2009. In that time frame, I have completed 8 “rounds” of P90X and P90X Hybrids. Back when I first started I was 150lbs and 16% body fat. After my first 90 days I had gone up to 158-160 lbs and had my body fat drop to 8%. Since then my goals have changed after almost every round. Round 7 had become a major mass gaining around where I was determined to gains mass with minimal body fat gain. I ended up getting to 170lbs and 7% body fat. Round 8 became all about getting back to being in the best shape possible.
My end results of round 8 are as follows. I am currently 5′ 11″ and 168 lbs. I just got my body fat checked and I am down to 4.5-5% body fat. My 8th round was a hybrid of P90x/P90X: One on One Vol 3/Asylum/Chest X 2.0 (click for links). I also added the P90X2 workouts that I had rehearsed and had been in. This is a routine that I am going to keep going as I get ready for P90X2 to come out this December. Here are my results:
This picture was a candid pic taken last week at the beach workout. I wanted to show this pic instead of a picture of me posing so you could get a good idea what I look like in a real world environment. No indoor set up lighting, flexing or anything like that. I would even say that I am in better all around shape than I was for the P90X2 videos that I am in. It will be interesting to see the difference when they come out.
My strength has gone through the roof this last round. Here is a video of the Beach workout, in case you missed it, that I took where you can see how 2 years of P90X can help you with your functional strength.
Here is another pic that I took today of my Round 8 results. Again, I wanted to take on that was as candid as possible so you could get a good idea how I am progressed of this round.
As I am moving into round 9 of my P90X journey I am now looking to go into a Mass Gaining mode again. I will be upping my calories, increasing my weight and adding more drop sets into my P90X routine. I believe that I will focus mostly on P90X + One on One workouts. I am doing this to get ready for when I start my P90X2 round this January 2nd (more on that to come soon) and I will also post my round 9 schedule for those who are wanting to join me. [...] These workouts were both a blast to do and even more fun to film with the man himself, Tony Horton. Being on set for P90X2 was an outer body experience to say the least. Below are the two preview videos that Beachbody has put on YouTube. As you will see, Chest/Back and Balance is P90X Chest/Back taken up a notch. You will now be doing totally different pull up moves, and push ups on medicine balls. This workout blasts me but has made my strength with both push ups and pull ups go through the roof. V-Sculpt is a Back/Bicep workout that has been put in the Advanced workouts kit, which is available through the Deluxe Kit and Ultimate Kit to pre-order now, BUT It will be available for pre-order separately later in September. It takes what you have learned in P90X2 foundation phase and applies it to getting the V shape that you have always wanted. Everything is done in a athletic position to help with functional and core strength. It’s amazing how much my fitness has improved since I have shot this video and incorporated it into my fitness schedule. I think you will see for yourself if you compare how I look in V-Sculpt to my Round 8 Results. [...]
[...] to try to get lean and mean for summer. I was very pleased with my results, which you can see HERE. I feel like I am in even better shape then when I shot P90X2. So for this round I wanted to [...]
[...] P90X and P90X2, but there are also some key differences. Since I feel like a P90X expert now (after 9 rounds) and a P90X2 cast member (Chest/Back + Balance and V-Sculpt), I can offer a unique perspective. I [...]
